May 15 to June 15, 2024

National Day of Action for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2024.

For one month, actions will take place in Switzerland to contribute to the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

These will take place just in time for the 10th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) in Switzerland and the 20th anniversary of the Disability Equality Act (Disability Act).

The days of action throughout Switzerland offer the opportunity to show the population new measures, already planned or implemented, that improve the realities of life of people with disabilities. In this way, they aim to positively influence the political agenda. During actions, obstacles can be made visible and tangible. At the same time, practical knowledge needs to be imparted in order to find targeted and sustainable solutions. For this, it is essential to have a diverse network that is able to act. To this end, spaces for exchange are created and offers of support are made available.

Diabète Valais and MaRaVal have joined forces to take part in the Marathon des Terroirs, to be held on May 25, 2024, under the team name DiaMaRa. The two organizations want to raise awareness of type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease, as well as the various rare diseases, which are essentially genetic in origin. They affect patients from an early age. On a daily basis, multidisciplinary teams and dedicated caregivers work to help and support the 50,000 Valaisans affected.
